Be Still
Lent 2026
"Be still and know that I am God."
Our world is anything but still. Partly because we are pushed and pulled in every direction. Partly because, though we complain about being busy, we don’t like to be still or silent. Finally, our overuse of technology has severely diminished our ability to focus on anything for long.
Do you struggle with being still? Do you even feel guilty being still?
It’s not only ok to be still, but God also commands it. Why? He says it in Psalm 46, “Be still and know that I am God.” In other words, stop worrying, scrambling, stressing, and acting like you are God and the whole world depends on you! Let God be God.
Jesus also says in Matthew 11:28, “Come to me all you who are wearied and burdened, and I will give you rest.” He invites you into His Sabbath. He not only provides for your daily bread, but He has also provided for your salvation, forgiveness, and eternal life. He had done the work. You can rest.
This Lent, let’s try to take that rest. Let’s set aside a part of our day to be still: read a little scripture, sit and stare at the wall, reflecting on His Word, your life, the cross, and the empty tomb, and talk to God. It might be the most important and significant thing God has given you to do: be still.
Join us on Wednesdays in Lent at 7pm for our midweek services. We'll be featuring acoustic guitar music with an emphasis on our theme; "Be Still"

Easter Sunday is one of the most joyful mornings of the year at St. James! As we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus together, we are preparing for a full and festive day of worship.
Because we are currently worshiping in our lower level with limited seating capacity, we are adding two additional services on Easter Sunday to make room for everyone. To help us prepare well and create the best possible experience for all, we’re asking you to let us know which worship service you’re planning to attend.
Your response will help us distribute attendance thoughtfully and ensure that as many people as possible can celebrate Easter at St. James.
Thank you for helping us plan for a joyful morning together!
